return used bpa bottles to babies r us

I have heard throught the grapevine for the last few weeks that you can return your Avent and Dr. Brown's bottles that contain BPA to Babies R Us for a credit. I haven't tried this yet, not can I find a true article online stating this, but I wanted to post it anyway because if it's true, this could turn out to be a great deal! It's totally worth a quick call to my local BRU to confirm whether or not I should drive up there. I will post an update when I find out if my local BRU is taking back used bottles or not.

Have any of you tried this? If so, let us in on the dirt! Share what you know!

I heard about something like this in Canada...not here, yet...but worth a try...I don't have any receipts, though.

At my local store in Michigan they will only take back the models they stock for bpa free bottles NOT store credit. The reason I know this is cause the woman in front of me tried bringing in bottles from 8 years ago and wanted store credit. Unbelievable!! Apparently they have been dealing with a lot of scam artists trying to return bottles from the last decade.

I did this on Monday. I returned 8 avents and 5 breastflow bottles. I didn't have any packaging or receipts and got store credit. HOwever, my bottles were less than 10 months old and were on my original registry, but they never looked that up. They just took my driver's licence and phone number. My store has fantastic customer service!

I sure do wish I could return by Playtex Ventairs! We must have spent over $100 on those things. But that was four years ago. Now I'm pg with #2, and have to buy all-new bottles. Meanwhile, my old Playtexes are just sitting in a cupboard. :( -- Brooke H.

OK, I called tonight and was told on the phone that you had to have a receipt or it must have been on your registry. My registry is still active and I had a few bottles from it that JW doesn't like. I took them back. But, when I got there I was told they are taking all BPA bottles, but you must exchange for other feeding accessories, no store credit. I think I'll take some more back tomorrow. I have tons of Dr. Brown's because my daughter had reflux.

I was just there too and they told me they would take them with out receipts. I have a bunch I need to dig up. The girl I spoke with seemed a little unclear on exactly what I could exchange them for.

So - How do I know if my bottles have BPA in them. I have the Avent ones, but there are no numbers on the bottom of them. They are about a year and a half old. Thanks!

I think people who are being hassled on this need to talk to a store mgr. Keep going up the chain of command. I rtned mine here in Knoxville no prob. They asked for ID which was fine and I got a store credit. I could see down the road them changing their policy b/ they are going to end up w/ lotso bottles being rtned so the sooner you go the better. Of course if you call and they say they will rt them get their name for reourse if you get badgered when you go.

Unfortunately I gave all my Avent bottles away when Ella had trouble with the nipple. However, my sister-in law has some. She called Babies R Us in Kennesaw/Town Center, and they told her they would take them back. Just FYI for those of you that live in that area.

Me again, my sister inlaw went to get a store credit for her Avent bottles at Babies R Us. They just changed their policy and will only let you exchange them for BPA free bottles. Better than nothing!

I took back tons of old bottles today and got $70 worth of credit. You have to exchange on the spot though and it must be for feeding items. I did get some pump parts and some sippy cups, not just bottles. I got 2 foogo sippy cups that are great too! Just so you know, they take 10% off the price if you are missing any parts.

I have heard that friend have returned bottles to Babies R Us for store credit (which she used to buy new bottles.) On another note, I understand there are a lot of scam artists, but some people have multiple kids. I am currently using bottles from 5 years ago (for my 3rd child)...why buy new ones. Maybe that mother returning old bottles still needs bottles for a new baby. If that is what she has, and they are not safe, she should get new bottles (not necessarily store credit :)
