fallen off the wagon

So as you know if you have read my past posts, I am a huge cloth diaper advocate. Well, I am here to confess all my sins, and I have totally fallen off the wagon. We stopped using cloth when we went to the beach. I don't like to travel with cloth if I don't know what my washing set up will be like and boy was I glad because it was an awful washing machine! Well I had every intention of getting back into cloth when we got back and I did for a while, but then Gracie started getting some HORRIBLE rashes. She would be clear and clean one change and angry red and blistered at the next. We took her to a pediatric dermatologist and he put her on a prescription diaper cream, which of course, stains cloth diapers, so back into sposies she went.

Last night as I was buying a case of LUVS, the guilt was overwhelming me. I love cloth diapers. I love her in cloth diapers. I love the benefits of cloth diapers and my child is currently wrapped up in paper with Blues Clues all over it. UGGHH!! I have been such a slacker!

So I figure confession is the first step. I need some encouragement. Also, (TMI warning), Gracie's poop has gotten super soft for some reason and explosive, so that is a whole other reason I have backed off as those are the WORST diapers to clean.

So, please, pull me back on the wagon. I just washed diapers last night. I need to get back into the habit of putting them on the girl!

Do you have those flushable liners? I bought some and they are awesome when Lucy poops. There is a cloth diaper store in Knoxville that sells them. There website is www.cutietooties.com.

You have totally helped me become a CDer and I'm glad I do it. Especially when the price of everything else has gone up!

ohhh! i didn't know there was a cloth store in knoxville. i totally want to go next time! We have some ime vise liners but they feel like dryer sheets. They do work well though. What brand liner do you like??

Ok, I am so in the same boat. Stopped cding since going to the beach 3 weeks ago. My dd has had rashes on and off and she seems to be pooping like 3-4 times a day no joke. Once this weird rash goes away for good I am back to it though. It hit me this week as I took out a big bag of dirty sposie dipes and I thought man have not had to take stinky dipes out to the trash for a long time.

I use the Bummis Bio-Soft Flushable Liners. I did not like the ime vise ones. Kinda rough.

So glad you are back! I became a reader right when you left and have patiently waited for you to come back...I had almost given up! :)

We have been cloth diapering since my baby was around 3 months (we had a few weeks where we used disposables at night- due to a horrible rash) but, finally I sad NO MORE and have refused to buy anymore. I think some of the rash is wetness and detergent- so I have a few stay dry liners I am checking out this week and new detergent. I am using Charlie's now and I definitely see a difference.

Btw, are you in Knoxville? I am originally from Marion.

OK, you had a huge part in my CDing, so here is my encouragement! I would NOT CD were it not for liners. JW gets rashes pretty easily on his "man parts" so I use cream and just put a liner down. I like the Burts Bees cream alot. I was not a fan of the Imse Vimse liners, sandpaper, although they do stand up better in the wash if they just pee and you want to wash them. But, the Kushies (walmart.com, diapers.com, and a CD store in Athens) are much softer and I like the size better too. I am using them on both kids. MBs poops are peanut butter most of the time and I would die if I had to rinse those out. The liners have saved me. I hope you get back on the wagon! You are only 1 of 2 people I know crazy enough to do this with me.

I just started CD'ing and I love it - but I have been using the 7th Generation for the last year. Maybe it was me, but I really thought the "advertised" brands smelled so chemically! and we always battled a rashy bottom with them. I justified that at least the 7th Gen's did not smell chemically bc hopefully they really are a little better for her bum. They can be tough to find in the suburbs - but amazon or drugstore.com usually has them on sale - amazon with free shipping...
BUT hopefully your littleone's hiney clears up and you can get back to cloth!

Not that you didn't already know this....but you're a terrific mom no matter what kind of diaper Gracie is wearing! I know you and Jenn are competing for MOTY :) but it's okay that you've fallen off the wagon for a while. Honestly, I would have a hard time with the poop if I couldn't throw it in the trash (sorry green readers). Just saying....

glad to see you blogging again :) Yes, i still popped by your site faithfully awaiting your return LOL

I too fell off the cd'ing wagon for a bit. We were on a 3 week trip to the Middle East and didnt have access to good detergents, let alone proper/consistent power supply to do the washing, so i took over a case of 7th Gens (thank God!). We got home, and all promptly came down with the flu (and the explosions that come with it). Then there was my huge garage sale that i had to prep for a week for (now cleaning up from)... I tried getting back into CDs but honestly, i think i have done about 4 diaper loads in the past month and a half, so that tells ya something about where we are at LOL... I have covers and pockets on the line now and just looked out to see a HUGE SWARM of ladybugs engulfing my clothesline and side of the garage... fun fun... gotta go grab them a rewash now.
Come on... get back on the wagon and i will get back on too :)
