I'm so "flippin' excited to try out flip!

I'm 11 weeks into cloth diapering a newbie. With Sass I didn't start until 4 months so I didn't know much about cloth diapering a teeny tiny. Well 11 weeks in and my all time favorite diapers are our bumgenius AIO's. They are super simple, super absorbant and we haven't had a single breastfed poop explosion in them. My second favorites would be my gdiapers. I love the fit of the gdiapers and the concept, but I don't love the cotton g pants. Well actually I do love them but I don't love that they feel damp after wearing them for a while and I don't love that I have to snap in those silly liners and change them out after pretty much every poopy diaper. But other than that I do love them and I have purchased 4 more covers in the next size along with a bunch of g cloth.

All that to say, I'm now super excited to try out the flip system. It may be the best of both worlds. It's similar to a g diaper system as you use the same cover multiple times and just lay an insert (either disposable, stay dry or organic) inside. But it's made like a bG! one size with snaps, so hopefully being made of PUL won't feel damp after a while. And it's a one size so more economical than purchases multiple sizes of what ever system you do like. I have heard too that my gcloth will work in the flip system which is good since I have a dozen or so of them!

So now that bubba bear is growing like a weed, I have sold off all our xsmall diapers and used that money to invest in a one day pack of flips, plus an extra single flip in ribbit green (my all time fave!). I also ordered a pack of the disposable inserts to try out and compare against the gdiaper inserts. I do like this option for when we are out and about all day long and I don't want to haul dirty diapers around!

This is the perfect time to try out the Flip system ( or any other Bumgenius diapers) too because bumgenius is allowing a rare sale. And if you purchase from Kelly's Closet today you can get free shipping too on orders over $50 using the code FORFUN.

I'll be back to update once I get them in and do a full comparison between Flip and gdiapers.

tiny fluff friday

So there hasn't been a whole lot of blogging going on these last two weeks. What has been going on is a lot of nursing, diaper changing, napping and just trying to get adjusted to having three kids now instead of two!

Our newest little man is two weeks old today! I can't believe two weeks have past already! It makes me want to cry.... which doesn't mean a whole lot these days because everything seems to make me want to cry. Lovely hormones!

We did break out our teeny tiny fluff this week and started giving it a try. Only a few things fit so far but here are a few pics because what could be cuter than a newborn in a cloth diaper!

Teeny Tiny Orange G Diaper (really liking these!)

XS Thirsties Fab Fitted w/ an XS Thirsties Cover

XS Bumgenius AIO (probably my favorite!)

Hopefully next week I will be back into the groove of blogging and give you some more frequent updates... .I do have some fun give aways in store, one to start next week!

friday favorites - loopy do inserts

I am a pocket diaper lover. They are my favorite because once they are stuffed they are as easy as an AIO and with the right insert they can be super trim yet absorbent. It took me a while to find an insert that I liked, but lo and behold loopy do's are my all time favorites!

Loopy Do's are a hemp/ microfiber combo. The micro fiber absorbs quickly, where the hemp is super thirsty and holds a lot all while keeping the insert super thin. They also are sewn in a loop so dry time is minimal! Normally these inserts are $6.95 a piece, but right now Kelly's Closet has the 1G inserts for only $3.95!! And as if I needed one more reason to love these inserts, they are pre washed and prepped, ready to go!!

After trying out loopy do's I purchased a couple super do's for night time and they are bullet proof! So if you are on the hunt for a new insert to try, I highly recommend these!

Hurry now to check out these inserts before they are gone. They will go quick at this price!

let's talk about "fluff"

When Sass was around four months olds, I starting exploring the world of cloth diapering. I was curious about it with Bubbie too, but being a first time mom, too scared to jump out of my comfort zone.

So away I went researching cloth diapers. I discovered this great intro to cloth diapering trial kit at a website called Jillan's Drawers. They have an awesome trial program that lets you try all the different cloth diapers. Cloth, otherwise known as "fluff" has come a long way since folding and pins! This great service Jillan's Drawers offers allows you to put down a $100 deposit and then try everything for three weeks. If you don't like it return it all and lose just $10. If you do you can keep everything or just return the things you aren't fond of for credit towards other new diapers.

So here is the breakdown. There are basically three types of diapers (well four I guess) available now.

AIO's- These are all in ones. The most like your disposable diaper. They either snap or velcro. Use it once and then throw it into your diaper pail. The downside to these is they take longer to dry. To not defeat my enviromental causes, I dry them one cycle and then hang them in my laundry room.
Pockets These are the second easiest. They are just like an AIO except instead of the stuffing being sewed in, there is a pocket opening and you put your own insert in which is usually made of microfiber, hemp or a combo of both. Because you can pull the insert out these dry quicker. Also, people like them because you can stuff them as much as your baby needs to stay dry. (ie. I use more stuffings at night then in the day).
Fitted and Covers A fitted is a very trim diaper that is not water proof, so it needs a cover. The main reason I like these is because I have some very cute covers. You can use the same cover all day long and just change the fitted diaper underneath.
Prefolds and Covers This is the most economical way to cloth diaper but also my least favorite. Fitteds are more like your traditional cloth diaper that requires a water proof cover. The main reason I don't like these is that they are very trim for under clothes. They do hold newborn poop really well though! And the great thing is there is no need for pins now that there is a new invention called the Snappi!

I will do some individual posts on what my favorites brands are of each type of diaper another day, but for now here are a few fluffy photos of my sweetest girl! Seriously, did you think cloth could be so cute!!
